Epicure Cellar

The Epicure Cellar is a distinctive fine dining restaurant in Fonthill, in the Niagara Region, thoughtfully designed by These Architects to embrace the unique character of its partially subterranean setting. Hidden beneath street level, this immersive hospitality design experience draws guests into a richly layered environment where architecture, atmosphere, and culinary experience converge.

Inspired by the timeless character of historic European wine cellars, the restaurant’s interior design takes cues from centuries-old brick-vaulted spaces known for their warmth, intimacy, and craftsmanship. Soft arched architectural detailing throughout the space references these traditional cellar forms, creating a sense of depth, enclosure, and understated elegance.

The material palette reinforces this warm and sophisticated atmosphere. Earthy green tones, warm wood finishes, and rich copper accents combine to create a refined yet inviting setting. These natural materials are carefully layered against moody lighting and softly flickering candlelight, producing an environment that feels both luxurious and deeply intimate.

Every design decision was guided by the desire to elevate the dining experience beyond the plate. The result is a custom restaurant interior that balances sophistication with comfort—an atmosphere that encourages guests to slow down, connect, and fully immerse themselves in the experience.
