Orchard House is a contemporary custom residential design located in the Niagara Region of Ontario, conceived as a modern forest-edge home that responds directly to its agricultural and wooded landscape setting. Surrounded on three sides by a mature woodlot, a dense forest edge, and a planned future fruit orchard, the home is designed as a site-specific piece of rural architecture that blends modern living with the natural environment.
The composition of Orchard House is defined by two distinct residential volumes connected by a transparent glass garden atrium. This central atrium acts as both a spatial threshold and a year-round indoor garden space, bringing natural light deep into the home while framing continuous views of the surrounding Niagara countryside. The result is a seamless connection between interior living spaces and the surrounding rural landscape.
Designed as a modern rural home in Ontario, Orchard House emphasizes long sightlines, layered transparency, and a strong relationship between built form and landscape. The two volumes are carefully positioned to respond to solar orientation, views, and privacy, while the connecting atrium becomes the experiential heart of the home—functioning as circulation, gathering space, and greenhouse-like transition zone.
The architecture extends beyond the building footprint into the landscape through rooftop garden terraces that overlook the orchard fields and forest canopy. These elevated outdoor spaces reinforce the project’s commitment to landscape-integrated residential design, offering year-round engagement with nature and seasonal change.
Orchard House stands as a refined example of contemporary custom home architecture in Niagara, demonstrating how modern residential design can be deeply integrated into rural and agricultural contexts.
